The Easiest Form of Evangelism

Man, it’s hard to reach out to people. There is risk in putting yourself out there. They could reject you. They could laugh at you. They could scorn you. They could talk about you behind your back. They could also respond positively and accept Jesus as their Savior.

You just heard a really great message at church and you want your friends and family to hear it, maybe in hopes of having them visit your church someday, or even visit a church someday.  But, how do you do that, I mean you have all of Facebook to get through.

I have to say, the easiest form of evangelism looks like this:

When you Like and Share or Favorite and Retweet, you are sharing God’s Word with a hurting and broken word right where they’re at. They are looking for something uplifting, for something encouraging, for hope. You don’t have to go to the Connection’s Desk and pay for a CD so that you can set it in the catch all pile with the intent to take it to your brother who is out of work or your cousin who’s marriage is at risk. You can deliver it to them, right now, in a format that you know they will be accessing sometime very soon, Social Media.

Your church works very hard to make sure that these relevant messages are there for you, to listen to yourself, and to share with those who need them as badly as you did when you heard your pastor preach it from the pulpit. They prepare the blog post with the audio embedded in it. They prepare the podcast that can be found on iTunes, Stitcher and any other podcast app. And most importantly, they are preparing themselves to meet your friends and family with a smile and a handshake on the Sunday when they finally decide to check out your church because they heard your pastor’s sermon in a podcast that you posted on social media.

How?

“How do I get the word out about my church and it’s message?” you might ask yourself. Well, if you don’t already know, why are you asking yourself? I could tell you, just ask me.

I’ve already shared about the importance of sharing your church’s podcast episodes on your social media sites via Facebook likes and shares, and Twitter Favorites and Retweets. You could even +1 and share on Google+. Did you know that iTunes is one of the largest search engines out there? You can help to make the podcast, and by extension, your church, more visible on iTunes by leaving a rating and review, as well as giving a thumbs up on Stitcher. An important note here,  if you aren’t seeing all of your church’s Facebook page posts, you can go to their page and hover over the “Liked” box (assuming you have already liked the page) them go down and click on “See First.” This will insure you see everything your church puts on their page. iTunes:

In iTunes, you will have to create an iTunes account, then you can click on subscribe, give a 5 star rating and write a short review. This will help get the podcast on iTune’s New and Noteworthy listing allowing more people to see the podcast.

Now that you are a pro at Internet Evangelism, let’s get out there and do the very least we can and share God’s Word on social media. Who knows, it could lead to greater forms of evangelism, like maybe shaking a hand.
